Meeting
Captain Galaxy Meeting
Richard was a great experience. He called me Friday morning and left a message saying he
would be able to meet with me later that day. So, I left work a bit early and ran a couple
of errands in Wilmington while I waited for him to call back. He called around 5:30pm and
said "Brian, this is Captain Galaxy!" I was thrilled, needless to say. I drove
across town to the Hampton Inn and Suites near the golf club that Richard was going to be
playing at the next day. He and his wife were so nice to me and we chatted for a few
minutes about various topics from where we grew up to how life in the quiet coastal towns
of North Carolina is starting to be not-so-quiet anymore. While we were there, he
introduced me to Gil Gerard who played 'Buck Rogers' in "Buck Rogers in the 25th
Century!" Richard mentioned that one of his top favorite characters to play was Moe
Stien in Future Boy. He
said that after playing bad guys for the bulk of his career, he really enjoyed playing a
character with so much value and heart. He also said that his favorite comedic character
was Mr. Wilhelm in "Seinfeld." It was a pleasure meeting and speaking with him
and he wanted me to pass along a message to you:
"Say hello to the fans, from
Captain Galaxy!"
See you in the future.

Richard Herd passed away on May 26, 2020.
Making this episode was his favorite thing he had ever done on television, according to his comments made at The Leap Back 2009 convention.
