hi everyone. i just joined here on friday during my computer applications class, which happens to be where i am now, but i could not post until today becasue the school compuetrs went and (edit: broke down) on us. i usually hate ezboard becasue it's kind of annoying IMO, but i love quantum leap so i could not resist joining. hehe. my best friend and i have been watching the dvd's together for a while, and i have her to thank for getting me into it, becasue she told me about it and that i should try seeing it. so i said sure and she let me watch an episode with her and i loved it immedatly. in fact at our prom the other night all i did was sit around and talk a lot about quantum leap with the same best friend that introduced me to it. that was the only thing that made the night interesting. i hope to chat with you a lot in the future, i am really gald to be here.:wavey

Welcome!

We are glad that you are here and love QL! :)

I hope that you enjoy your stay at Al's Place. If there is anything you have a question about... just ask. I'm sure someone here will have the answer.

Enjoy!

Welcome! Just a friendly word of advice: cursing isn't allowed on the site. Everything you need to know is in the rules link.

Normally, yes, Chris, except for one thing... those Rules and Guidelines have now gone AWOL along with a significant portion of our three-year history here due to the ezboard "hacker" screw-up. New members won't be able to see them until the board gets restored, IF it ever does. I won't worry too much about it... harmless mistakes and cursing are the least of our worries right now. :hmm

Welcome to the board from me as well. Until we get a clearer idea of what's going on with the restoral process, I recommend only posting in this forum. In the event you see a post of yours has been deleted within the next few days, just know that it isn't our fault. It's an ezboard issue. :rolleyes

:lol Funny that you say that right now :lol

I hope all those problems here won't drive you away too soon ;)

Welcome!!! :D

Re: > Re: hi.

thank you all for the welcome. i am sorry for the cursing, it's just a habit of mine, i never use it in insult or anything offensive, just to emphizie my current mood. but if you do not like it i can gladly stop.

as for ezboard being annoying, if you guys are having problems maybe you can move the board to a more reliable server such as proboards or cjb.net. those work really well, i know as i am very familuar with them. just a friendly suggestion. i hope you figure out your problem soon.

and when you say post only on this forum do you mean the "temporary gneral discussion" area or the whole board or what? sorry i am sometimes slow and easily confused.

i hope the discussions here become more interesting, becasue i am about to graduate high school next week, so you can expect a lot of me here. hehe.

Re: > Re: hi.

Right now.....Damon means just this temporary board. :)

And welcome! :wavey

Re: > Re: hi.

Yes, sorry, I meant this one specific temporary forum. Most of the other forums have been damaged since May 31st. Many of them say there are hundreds of topics within them, when in fact they are empty (or rather, just not showing up right now)... or have replies that say "Unknown." We probably won't know the full extent of the damage for another week or so. Daggum hackers!

I apologize for the language, my dear MJ...

Daggum criminally negligent cyber-geeks!

Better? :p

My ears.....My ears......

oh wait....this is a screen....

My eyes.....My eyes..... <g>

Pity....washing THEM out with soap'll hurt more than washing my ears out. :D

Re: > Re: hi.

ok, i was just wondering, there is no need for apology i am just slow sometimes picking stuff up, and i wanted to make sure i understood correctly. i am sorry that you have been expierancing difficulties with the board, but if you want to run it on a server that will not give you problems, just look back at my suggestion from my above post. ;)
trust me proboards or cjb.net work so much better.

i just hope you can get something working soon because like i said before i am graduating next week and will have nothing better to do then come here, so i hope by that time there will be a new board or at least better working version of this board.:cheers

ok, so i am getting very board here in computer applications class, so i decided to spice up the conversation agian. i just have to get down here how it was i got into quantum leap becasue for some strange reason i kept going over it in my head trying to word it correctly like i was doing some kind of essay or writing one of my stories (i love to write stories, it's my one and only talent). so anyway here it is.

it was last month, may.....may, ah...acually, i do not think it was may, it might have been april...yeah, somewhere around there. anyway, we were having a sleepover, and it was real late at night, like past midnight and we were settled in our sleeping bags ready to go to sleep, but we usually talk for a few minutes before so she told me
"oh you gatta see an episode of quantum leap, it's really cool, it's about this guy who's traveling through time, leaping into other people's bodies to improve thier lives, and he has this realy funny sidekick who's a halogram, it's really funny. i can show you an episode tomorrow morning"

she managed to capture my intrest so i responed, rather sleepily
"sure ok why not, i'll see an episode"

and so the next morning we watched an episode together, double idenity, to be precise. and i immedatly loved it. i have to admit i was quite lost at first though becasue i did not get that the audience was seeing Sam as Sam. i thought that we were seeing frankie, and when he leaped into Don Geno he looked the same, so i was all confused, but kristen (my best friend) explianed to me, so then i finally picked it up.

*shakes head with a laugh, remembering)
ah-hahaha, man i remember even that very first episode got quite a few laughs from me. hehe. i instantly loved it and ever since then a lot of what i was going to her house for was quantum leap and if i wasn't watching it with her, she was letting me borrow it to see at home myself. and now i have seen seasons one through three, every episode. and now i am hecka anxious to get season four in stupid december.

hehe, i am glad i finally got that out. otherwise it would have gotten lost in my head and i would forget all my wording before long.

writing one of my stories (i love to write stories, it's my one and only talent)

Did you catch that MJ? - we have another writer to recruit!!!!

Welcome to the board, SamBeckettfann.
Sorry you caught us in the midst of this problem, there is so much that is missing at the moment.
Hopefully, things will be back to normal soon, and you will have plenty to occupy your post-grad time - can I point you to the absolutely fabulous Virtual Seasons (there is a link on one of the large logos at the top) - six whole seasons of wonderful Quantum Leap Virtual episodes to read. That should keep you out of trouble. :lol
You may wish to familiarise yourself with the contentious final episode of the tv series - Mirror Image before you embark upon these stories or you could get a little confused. I can promise you a wild ride and some laughs and some tears - it really keeps the series alive. (Yes I know I am biased cos I've written about 4 of these eps, but that still leaves plenty of others that I can highly recommend).
Anyway, I've rambled long enough.
Welcome again.

thanks, and i don't mind at all, i am sure you will get the problem fixed soon. i did catch the vertual seasons, the first chapter. when willl it be contiuned, it sounds very interesting so far.

To which are you referring? What have you read so far? There are currently 180 stories uploaded on the site, picking up where "Mirror Image" left off with Season 6 (the original TV show had 5 seasons). The site began in 1999 and is still going now, although the most recent season just ended in May and the new season (#12) will debut in September (just like on television, except you read the stories instead of watch them on a TV screen). ;)

huh? all i saw was the biginning of one where sam was himself and he was in the rain and some girl was like "sam beckett, are you ganna come in or get wet" or some thing like that and sam says his trademark oh boy?

The Virtual Seasons

SamBeckettfann,
I can see how everything can get a bit confusing. Hi again. :wavey

My name is MJ Cogburn. I'm one of the two who came along in 1999 and began the website called Quantum Leap: The Virtual Seasons. I've read though the post and saw that you have seen the first three seasons of Quantum Leap. You may want to see if your friend has the last two seasons on VHS tape. If not, ask if she has just "Mirror Image". ((For those who are avid watchers of seeing the whole thing through - yes, I know... that would be horrible of me to tell someone to do that. BUT... he doesn't need to begin reading Quantum Leap: The Virtual Seasons without seeing "Mirror Image".))

Once you've seen "Mirror Image" then if you want more... and I know that I did. As I put in the questionairre for the young lady who is doing an assignment in France that "Mirror Image" left a lot of unanswered questions and that I needed those answers. I didn't feel fulfilled - thus Quantum Leap: The Virtual Seasons was born. A. J. Burfield and I started writing in the summer of 1999 and in September, we started this website... and it's still going rather strongly, I think.

Ah... I got off track. Sorry about that.

If you do decide that you'd like to begin reading the stories... you'll want to start with the beginning of QL:TVS. Which is here:

QL:TVS The Sixth Season = 18 episodes

QL:TVS The Seventh Season = 34 episodes

QL:TVS The Eighth Season = 32 episodes

QL:TVS The Nineth Season = 32 episodes

QL:TVS The Tenth Season = 32 episodes

QL:TVS The Eleventh Season = 32 episodes

What you were starting to read was the last episode of Season 11. If you just start there, you'll miss out on a LOT of things. A LOT.

I hope that you enjoy. :)

MJ

Re: The Virtual Seasons

Are there any virtual season episodes based on actual events(ie. Lee Harvey Oswald)?

Re: The Virtual Seasons

In the 10th Season of Virtual Seasons, I wrote an episode based on/set during one of the 1988 fires that devastated the Yellowstone National Park system from approximately June till the about mid-November of that year. That episode is #1017 and is titled Fire And Ice.

Re: The Virtual Seasons

There are a few others. I can only come up with a few off the top of my head... I know that "Nightstalker" (Episode 715), written by A.J. Burfield, was based on the real-life serial killer Richard Ramirez. Very creepy story.

Sue Johnson wrote a wonderful story called "The Final Solution" (Episodes 1001 & 1002) that found Sam experiencing the horrors of the concentration camps in World War II first-hand. How was Sam able to go back that far, you may ask? Well, you'd have to read it to find out. ;)

(EDIT: For some reason, I said "refugee" camps, instead of "concentration" camps; my brain must have zoned out for a minute there...)

More recently, "Where There's Life" (Episode 1110), written by Douglas Laird, involved Sam leaping into Bob Hope during his first USO tour in Vietnam. The story was apparently based on a real-life incident that occurred during that time. He also wrote another story a number of years back called "Darkness Over the City" (Episode 804) which found Sam trying to maintain peace during the New York City Blackout of 1977.

A lot of us often try to incorporate "kisses with history" into our stories whenever we can.

Re: The Virtual Seasons

The episode of "Starbright Project" I'm currently writing (man, it's been a while since I worked on that....) takes place during the Loma Prieta earthquake of 1989 in the Bay Area in California.

Re: The Virtual Seasons

no, neither of us has the rest of the series yet, nor have we seen it, we have to anxiously wait until december to get season four, sadly.<img border=0 src="http://www.knightshow.com/smilies/crying.gif" />

Re: The Virtual Seasons

Joy, does your post mean you're CURRENTLY working on it??? :D I LOVED the synopsis of what you had planned!!

Looking ahead to VS season 12...Eleiece and I are writing one that takes place during the 1997 Nights of Joy at Walt Disney World, if that counts as a kiss with history. :D

Re: The Virtual Seasons

I wrote one near the end of Season 10 called Touch 'Em All that takes place during a real baseball spring training game, all things game related actually happened...as did the outcome of Sam's changing history...
