U.S.
The time is drawing near for me to go. For those of you who don't know: I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in September of 2006. My ship date for basic training is officially April 10th (but I'm actually required to be at the office by the 9th). The countdown has begun as this will be my last week.

So I'm saying goodbye! No one's going to hear from me for quite sometime. I will try to write home as often as possible, for those of you who may be interested in the boot camp adventures of LunarCrystal, and those will be posted on my LiveJournal (hopefully) by my sister who will receive them.

Lastly, a friend of mine gave me a very excellent parting gift that I thought I would share with everyone at the board.

You can see it here: http://lunarcrystal.livejournal.com/33426.html

Wish me luck!

Carol

W00t!! Yay, cold.

And yay! I'm a shipmate! ^.^ Well, I will be. Actually, cold's not a problem. I lived in Wisconsin for two years. I know cold. Being on the lake, though - hrm.

Are you still in the Navy or did you decide not to re-enlist? Or are you (were you) enlisted?

Yay, Navy! And boy, am I super nervous - even after everyone I know saying I'll be fine.

Good luck! Maybe, if you're fortunate, you'll manage to miss the last gasp of winter that has hit the Great Lakes area (Tuesday - 70 degree weather; Wednesday - Blizzard that has lead to continuing cold weather.)

That artwork is wayyyyyyyy cool!

Bon Voyage, Carol. The Navy's gain is our loss.

Try to keep in touch when you can.

Al would surely be as proud of you as we are here.

I was enlisted, and decided not to re-enlist. It was an experience though! What will be your rate? What school are you going for?

My rate will be ATF-IS (Intelligence Specialist) which is about to completely cancel out when I say, "Wha--? Huh? What school am I going for?" *confused*

My "A" school?

Thank you, everyone, for all the well-wishes! I do hope to do my best. And Brian, I just made myself the obvious stereotype of Military Intelligence and defined it as the oxymoron it is.

Rate and Rating are two different things, and I got confused by your question. T_T . . . I'm going in as an E1 Seaman (or Sailor) recruit. My job will be ATF-IS. And my head will be exploding tomorrow at 2pm when my sister drops me off at the recruiter's office.

I know you won't be able to read this until after you have graduated Basic, but as a friend, I am supporting your endeavour by wearing my Navy PT shirt every day until you graduate.

Congratulations, and best of luck!
