IMDB entry for "Quantum Leap: A Bold Leap Forward"

[link=http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0383588/ newwindow]"Quantum Leap: A Bold Leap Forward"[/link]

Just ran into this on IMDB. :eek
Does this mean this info is confirmed? Or is it still just speculation?

Re: IMDB entry for "Quantum Leap: A Bold Leap Forward&q

I've never heard nor seen ANYTHING about this. I have no idea who added it. It could be true, it might not. Since IMDB is a user-controlled place--meaning, anything on there is added by users, you never know what you're gonna get on there.

I'll look around to see. Meanwhile, as a moderator, I'm going to move this to the General Discussion area for a short while so that more people can see this interesting development. I think it is worth being seen.

Re: IMDB entry for "Quantum Leap: A Bold Leap Forward&a

A thought came to me at school concerning that very question--who posted this information? It could have been someone who wanted to have a page for the new QL on IMDB, and decided to make stuff up in order to get the page up there.

But, then again, the fact that they have another person in the credits besides DPB makes one wonder if they indeed have inside info.

Also... it could be that it'll end up being the same way the original QL is on IMDB. They have one page for just the pilot--Genesis, then one page for the series.

It could be that this page is for the 2-hour pilot, that Scott could very well film during his hiatus next year, and a page for the actual series could be forthcoming once more info is released.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Re: IMDB entry for "Quantum Leap: A Bold Leap Forward&a

Well, I just looked again and this Quantum Leap title is indeed listed under both Donald Bellisario's and Trey Callaway's bios as well. This could indeed be it!

Can a person just go in and add things to actors bios? If not, then this looks for real!

:hurray

Re: IMDB entry for "Quantum Leap: A Bold Leap Forward&a

The only sort of thing that I've done on IMDB is the other way around--adding a cast/crew member to an already-made movie/TV page.

I'm not sure how IMDB goes about adding movies/TV shows. I know that it was just this week that they added the page for Pirates of the Caribbean 2 as well.

I'm skimming through their Help pages right now, and apparently, they have real people out there scanning the data sent to them by users, making sure they don't put up bad info.

I've had to look further to find a page describing how to add new titles. Here's the guide; it includes eligibility rules.

www.imdb.com/updates?update=title

Here's a quote that makes me think that this whole thing is all REAL:

"Please note that titles are not automatically added; the data is sent to the IMDb title managers who will verify the existence and eligibility of the title and, if acceptable, add it. The more information you provide, the more chance we will be able to verify the title and add it to the database."

The people at IMDB could very well have called Callaway and/or DPB and/or Sci-Fi to confirm this.

Oh, and the form for adding a new title has a drop-down menu that says "I am... A director/etc.; A cast member/etc.; A publicist/etc.; None of the above".

If the person adding it was any of the aforementioned ('cept the None of the Above), it means.... we just got more info about the QL revival in one day than in the past year or more!

Joy

PS: The title kinda makes me shiver--it sounds too much like a fanfic title... and yet at the same time, it sounds very much like a Bellisario title, as well. Hehehe, goes to show that we QL writers are very intuned with DPB, eh?

Re: IMDB entry for "Quantum Leap: A Bold Leap Forward&a

I would add this to my last post, but that one's too long. I just found something about Trey Callaway that makes this even MORE believable. His quick bio on a WGA page says:

"Trey Callaway wrote I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, and is currently working on feature and television projects for Universal Pictures and Columbia Tri-Star."

Many of things he's worked on have been from Universal, too. He is obviously in the employ of Universal. And I have noticed on his IMDB page that most of the things he's produced, he's also written. I wonder if he might be helping DPB with that aspect as well?

Re: IMDB entry for "Quantum Leap: A Bold Leap Forward&a

No problem. Gotta get enough info to update the Revival site.

Oh, but... I might as well warn you ahead of time. I might seem to poof out of existence at any moment for an uncertain amount of time. My mom's behind on paying the cable bill (heck, we're behind on ALL our bills), so my 'Net could go out at any moment.

If it does, I'll e-mail you from my Yahoo! via "my" computer at school; my comp. teacher gives me free reign over my e-mail (though message boards are off-limits), since I'm already ahead of everyone in the class (I took the course 'cause it's an easy A--it's learning how to use the Internet. :-D )

...

I've just sent an email to Scifi.com asking them to verify this entry. I urge you all to do the same so we can let them know interest is still high. Email them from every address you have! Tell your friends to email them from all their addresses! Ask your parents to email them! Post on message boards, do whatever you can to let them know we're here.

Hopefully we'll know something soon. Man, I hope this is it.

*fingers crossed*

In Peace,
Shane

...

Well, that didn't work. Sci Fi sent me an email saying they don't respond to emails.

Anyone else wanna take a crack at it?

In Peace,

Re: ...

Typical, yesterday I wasn't able to get onto the Internet and we learn more news about Quantum Leap! The day the news broke that Quantum Leap was being revived, I wasn't on the Internet that day either! I'm thinking I should take wee "sabbaticals" more often as a wise man once said!

This news on IMDB.com is great. I am a long time user of this website and it is my first point of reference to check on Quantum Leap revival news. As Joy has stated earlier, IMDB.com is continuing updated by users of the site and relies on it's users for the information, they do have a team of researches who validate all information that is posted on the site. This data is vertified before it reaches the website.

Also, no user can add new programmes or films to the site. That is done by the website monitors / designers.

Twenty years after the original series left Dr. Sam Beckett "leaping" into the great unknown, Sam is finally reunited with Al, his old mentor and "partner in time." But when circumstances beyond their control send Sam away once more, Al must recruit his lost friend's daughter to pick up where her father left off and hopefully help find Sam again in the process.

After reading the previous plotline, I am quite certain of the following details.

1. Scott Bakula will be in the new Quantum Leap, but only as a camero / guest star. It will show him returning home. Prehaps a little interact at home before he gets lost in time. After that Scott Bakula will step out of the Quantum Leap franchise. Who knows, he might return at a later date if the long await sixth season gets the go ahead.

2. Dean Stockwell will return to Quantum Leap as a Al Calavicci. I feel that he will be remain in the telefilm as the hologram to the new leapee and also in the sixth season if the telefilm is successful.

3. Most importantly, the new leapee. After a year of speculation, the new female leapee will be Sammi-Jo Fuller, Sam Beckett's daughter, as many people hoped and wished for. No word yet as to who will play Sammi-Jo. Prehaps it could be Melora Hardin, who played Abgail Fuller in Trilogy II and III.

I tell you, after reading all this I am beginning to get excited about the new Quantum Leap. This could be as good as the old series. At least we know, it will be relevant to the Sam Beckett story!

a thought

Hmm... If Sammy Jo's gonna be the leaper...

It'd be interesting to see if the little girl who played Sammy Jo in the series is still acting... She'd probably be in her 20's now, a good age to reprise the role, no? Especially if they're planning to target a younger audience...

Just a thought... :)

Re: a thought

Well, the girl who played Sammy Jo (Kimberly Cullum) hasn't done any acting since 1995 according to the IMDB. She would also most likely be too young for the part, as it is supposed to be 20 years after Sam first leapt (and Sammy Jo would have been an adult by that time, already). But Melora Hardin (Abigail) is still quite involved in front of the camera. She'd probably be about the right age, too. Hmm...

VERY interesting! I sure hope the IMDB is correct about this one! I always thought we'd hear something from a press release first, but the IMDB tends to have very good sources.

Edit: And for anyone interested in what Melora Hardin (Abigail Fuller) looks like now, they have a picture of her as of 2002. i.imdb.com/Photos/Ss/0302640/22_CT-1460.jpg
Looks like she could take on a new series. :)

Re: a thought

But the plot summary clearly states that it's been 20 years since Sam's LAST leap ("...left him "leaping" into the great unknown...") - that is, since 1999, and not his first leap in 1995.

Well, Sammi Jo was born in 1967. That would make her 32 at the end of the original show. If indeed 20 years of Project Time have passed, then it is now 2019 or 2020, and Sammi Jo is in her early fifties... about ten years older than her father was at the time of his own first leap.

Somehow I don't think this is how it's gonna be. If indeed Sammi Jo is to be the new leaper, she'd probably have to be somewhere in her thirties, maybe early forties like Sam was, but no older.

Also, if this is true it would give DPB the chance to finally have some leaping into the future, as the more recent part of the 52-year-old Sammi Jo's lifetime - and thus of her leaping span - constitutes of what is, for us, the future time of this decade and the next. This would of course, as was discussed in the past, seriously undermine the original show's premise and the memorable "Quantum Rules". Ziggy would be unable to offer info about future events and the role of the observer, whoever he/she is to be, would be restricted to evaluating situations and offering advice without having a clue as to what may or may not come to pass as a result. Not to mention the fact that even those of Sammi Jo's missions that are more "local" in nature, dealing with fictitious characters (as opposed to characters drawn out of real life) would suffer and lose credibility in the absence of satisfyingly detailed historical background that is mentioned and inserted into the story, as was done so many times in the original show.

Re: a thought

Actually, I kinda took that comment of "twenty years" as a mistake on the part of the person writing it... It sounded to me like they were referring to the length of time it has been in *real life* since the last episode "left Dr. Sam Beckett 'leaping' into the great unknown".

So, they seem to have accidentally made a mistake and put twenty years instead of ten years. At least, that's how I've interpreted it.

At the same time, when Quantum Leap originally aired it was in the future for us. When the 5th season aired in '93, it was already 1999 at Project Quantum Leap. So having the project a few years in (our) future wouldn't be out of the norm for the show.

Oh, and if that link to the picture of Melora Hardin isn't working right, try this link: us.imdb.com/name/nm0002124/photogallery-ss-0

Re: a thought

Well, I e-mailed the Futon Critic, asking if he had heard anything in the Hollywood circles about this, and the chief editor answered back with what most peeps on the QL newsgroup have been complaining about--IMDB is not exactly the most reliable source of information.

But of course, we already knew that. However, I woke up with a thought:

My theory I posted earlier about the "twenty years" could be true. Maybe instead of this being some wishful thinking on the part of an anxious QL fanfic writer (I still think that title is majorly fanficy), it could be a producer's assistant or someone from Sci-Fi who doesn't really know all that much about QL but was asked to add the information. Anyone not really up-to-date with QL might actually think that the show is older than it is.

It's just a guess. We know that we must wait for confirmation from Sci-Fi (which sucks, because I really miss being able to hear from Kip about these things; at least he knows the exact facts), but we must also keep a positive attitude about this until then.

Besides, DPB's been writing since last December. It's quite possible that they're closing in on the time to announce casting, etc.

Anyway, just keep positive and wait (like we haven't already been doing *that*) for confirmation.

After reading IMDB.com comments on Quantum Leap: A Bold Leap Forward, I think I've seen a paragraph saying that it was Sci Fi USA who distributed this news to IMDB.com.

Here is the link. Let me know if you all agree with me, or if I am just mis-reading it.
