Synopsis | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Summer, 1990 Spring, 1993 Spring, 1995 Dr. Sam Beckett wasn't always a leaper. And Admiral Al Calavicci wasn't always a holographic image. In 1993, at Stallion's Gate, New Mexico, Sam and Al were ordinary men with extraordinary ambitions... Project Quantum Leap was only a dream. What was the secret that made Ziggy much more than a machine? Why did Sam really want to travel in time? Where was Al that fateful winter night? And who almost destroyed the dream before it began? The answers are just a leap away... Summary & review by Dermot Devlin of the former quantumleaping.com: This is truly an excellent book for all true leapers to get if at all possible. There are no leap missions in this book, which in itself is quite unusual for a Quantum Leap story. This story begins in 1990, a whole five years before Sam disappears in the Quantum Leap Accelerator. Here we learn the story on what Sam's driving force is for setting up the Project. Was the project outcome the way he foreseen it? We learn how a Rear Admiral Al Calavicci got involved in the project and why. Along with the reasons of Project Quantum Leap being created, we also learn about the darker side to Project Quantum Leap that neither Sam or Al knew about. Why did this faction exist? Why did they want project to fail? Who was behind it all? This darker side would go to any lengths to make sure that Project Quantum Leap would not come to fruition, even if that meant Dr. Sam Beckett had to die. In this story we are tons to humorous moments that all leapers will enjoys. Moments like when a certain Al Calavicci was introduced to a certain Tina O'Farrell, or my personal favourite the constant trying to outdo each other in arguments between Al and Ziggy. Although some of the events and ideas in this book do not match the events and ideas from the television series, this book still stays true to the series. Sam is still Sam and Al is still Al. None of the magic of the programme has been lost between the transition from the screen to paper. |
