Shirley had her baby. It was a girl. It had been a hard tough labor. Sam was almost as tired as Shirley. Bob called the doctor and told him they were coming. Jim explained that at about 4:30 in the morning, he got a call to help Berkley. Apparently, the old man had gone too far down the bay, and when his engine died, he had no way to get back. Jim and his friends got in their boat and made their way down to old man Berkley, only to have their engine break down as well. They spent the whole day trying to fix both engines while drifting down the bay. Once they got them fixed, they raced back to Chesapeake Beach. There Jim learned that his wife had thought something terrible had happened to him and was with Bob. Bob offered his apologies to Sam, who returned the lost wallet to Jim. Jim thanked Sam, and forgave the loss of the money since Sam had just delivered his baby. Shirley also expressed her apologies, and wanted to name the girl Samantha. Bob took the new parents to the doctor. Mark started cleaning up. The crowd began to settle down, but still talked about the remarkable events that had just taken place. There were many congratulations to Sam. Sam went outside the diner. The sun had set. He walked to the side of the diner and sat against the wall. Tommy, the little boy, walked with him. "That was neat." The boy exclaimed. "Yeah." Sam smiled. "Of course, it was not as neat as chasing a submarine, or playing secret agent. That is another fun game. Have you ever played that?" Tommy asked. "No, I have not. You know, you should write a book. you have a very active imagination." Sam commented. "That's a good idea. I am going to write a book!" Tommy announced. "Well, it is not that easy. You have to think of a story, and then ..." "Tommy! Tommy!" The boy's mother called out. "Tom Clancy, you get over here right now. It is time for us to go." "Tommy? Tommy Clancy." Sam mumbled to himself. "Tom Clancy!" Sam realized who the kid was. "Bye Sam." Tommy said, and turn to run to his mother. Sam could feel the tingling sensation build. Everything faded from his vision. -- John-William DeClaris All comments made by me are mine and not reflective of RUSH or anyone else... even any spelling errors I most likely made.
