March 29th, 2005 RodetteVision By M.J. Cogburn
Hello all of you Quantum Leap-aholics out there! Yes, I know its late in the month for this Rodette to come out but real life prevails and when one has work up to ones eyeballs (I know a few of you can relate) you just want to throw all of it in the air and hope that Sam Beckett will leap into your life and take you away from it all! I dont want Calgon. Sam Beckett will be good enough. Let him take the job that I have, the lists that I have to do and be the mother, teacher, writer and wife for at least a week. Then, I can have a relaxing week of just laying around in the Waiting Room, talking to Ziggy, Al and Verbena and give them what I can remember of whats going on here in the real world. Wouldnt that be a kick in the butt?! I have a small Quantum Leap-ism that befell me the other day and I was totally caught off guard by it. It shocked me and I enjoyed it tremendously! Has anyone ever heard of the music called: Rockabilly? You have heard of it whether you actually know what the word means or not. Basically Rockabilly is a mixture of Rock and Roll Music combined with Hillbilly Music. Here are some clues for you before I completely spell it out for you:
Let me tell you why I just told you this. My husband and I were in the car driving to Tyler, Texas when he says that he had a CD called Rockabilly that he wanted to listen to. I plugged that puppy in and he said, "Im surprised that you havent listened to this one yet. I know that youll like these songs." I just looked at him like he was nuts. Then the music began. The first two songs were: "Thats All Right Mama" and "Blue Suede Shoes" and I thought, Well, yeah I like this music. Its Elvis Presley songs I love him. Thats when I listened to the third song and it wasnt as good as the others two. Then this song Ooby Dooby came on. Right in the middle of driving down the road, my minds eye saw Sam throwing baseball to Mikey at a picnic as they cooked steaks and hotdogs then watched the another aircraft fly overhead doing a fancy maneuver that Sam didnt know the name of. Then Blue Moon Of Kentucky came on. And I found myself singing along, seeing Sam in a recording studio singing with a band as Elvis Presley! Then Be Bop A LuLa came on. Als favorite song. Then Everyday Talk about being bombarded with Quantum Leap thoughts as you are driving down the road. I just smiled and even remarked that I LOVED these songs It was amazing how Donald Bellasario touched us all with the music that he put in Quantum Leap! So what other songs bring you back to special moments (and no, Im not talking about the ones on the CD but just the songs in the background!) and make you think about Quantum Leap? Hmmmm? Until next time Love and hugs, MJ |
