Temptation Eyes Flaw thingy?

WARNING: THIS ENTIRE THREAD CONTAINS SPOILERS!

I noticed something strange and confusing in Temptation Eyes. At the beginning Ross asks Collins to tell them more about the girl (Janine) to which Collins replies, pointing to Sam
"He's the one playing phone tag with whoever strangled her", and Ross says
"Hey Dylan called you first thing when he got the tip, we were the first to report it!"

well that can't be true,
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
Ross was the murderer that had been tipping Dylan, and Tony Besh killed Janine,
so how could Dylan have gotten a tip about Janine?

To quote Bellisario: "Don't examine it too closely." I have seen Temptation Eyes several times because that was the episode I fell in love with Sam in and have wondered the same thing. Maybe Ross is just fooling. Or maybe Tony was a copycat killer, remember? She was a stripper, as was Ross's first victim, and several others. Maybe he saw Tony go home with her and well, the unfortunate thing happened. We'll never know what really happened those two weeks anyway. You weren't even born; I was too busy in preschool wanting to be in an astronaut in February 1985. Okay, enough dilly dalling. I've got to make some lunch.
