Al, I didn't know your wife could fly a plane," said Sam. "Neither did I," replied Al. He looked over at Donna and motioned for her to fly the plane. She put the plane on autopilot and started to lift the younger Al out of the seat. "Here, let me help." Sam came over to help her, and in the process of moving him to the other seat, touched Donna's hands. Suddenly the image of Marci faded to that of someone he knew, someone he loved. "No, Sam!" yelled the hologramic Al. "Donna?" Sam looked at his wife, "What are you doing here? Why did you leap in? Al, what's going on?" Al sighed, "She leaped into Marci to save the plane from crashing. I don't remember it, but that's what Ziggy told me. She also told me to make sure you two didn't make contact." "But I jimmied the lock! I could've stopped the plane," replied Sam. "I didn't know that, Sam," cried Donna, "I was worried about you. I figured you were stuck in that room so I had Ziggy leap me into Marci. Besides, at least we're together again, and maybe we can finally get you home now." Sam stood looking at her for a moment. Donna Eloise, here with him, in the past. He just couldn't believe it. He hugged her. The younger Al began to moan. "Let me take care of him Sam," Donna said, "You still need to go see if we got those readings on the hurricane. I'm gonna go see if there isn't an ice pack we can put on his head." Sam let her out of his arms and went over to the hologram. "I'm glad to see you again, Al. I'm so glad to see you," Sam said, trying to hold back tears. "Save it for later, you'd better go check on that equipment. Remember, thousands of peoples lives are at the mercy of those readings. Ziggy says Hurricane Alicia will make landfall within the next twelve hours. I'm gonna go back and talk to Marci. Boy, did I ever make a mistake letting her go." Al vanished and Sam went to the stockroom to check on the readings. It appeared that everything had gone successfully, even though he had left the equipment behind. After he finished recording all of the data and radioing it in, he went back to the cockpit. There he found Donna tending to an awake but somewhat delirious Al. "Is he going to be okay?" Sam asked. "Yeah, he'll be fine. I'm just wondering about you," she said, smiling, "Here, just hold this ice on his head. I've got get us back to land before our fuel runs out." *************** Sam walked into the infirmary at the naval base. Al was laying in the bed, talking to Donna/Marci and one of the nurses. "Well, Darren, I guess we had one hell of a flight. Marci tells me you did a fantastic job flying the plane, and that you even had to jimmy a lock. I guess I owe you, kid," Al said with a grin. Sam looked over at Donna. "Ahh...you don't owe me anything. And flying that plane wasn't too bad. I was thinking maybe I'll take some classes..." "Hell, you don't want to go to those classes," interrupted Al, "Let a real pilot show you how it's done." "Only once you've recovered," added Donna. "Ahh...it's nothing but a little knot. I'll be outta here in just a few hours. Marci said she'd cook me my favorite dinner when we get home. I can't wait." "Well, you'll have to," said the nurse, "because I've still got a few more tests to give you, Admiral." "Come on, Darren. I want to have another look around the base," said Donna, as she took him by the arm and let him out of the room. **************** Donna cooked a marvelous dinner that night, which pleasantly surprised Sam, because he knew that it was his wife who had actually done the cooking. Even Al took it to be Marci's, which was helpful. After the meal, Al and Donna sat down to watch a little TV. "Do you want to watch TV with us, Darren?" asked Al, "Voyagers is on... it's a pretty good show, though I think they've got a few holes to fill." "Nah...I think I'll go take a walk outside." Donna came out a few minutes later and found Sam laying down in the back of the jeep. "What are you doing, Sam?" she asked. "Just looking at the stars, like we always used to. Where's Al?" "I put him to bed, because he was looking rather tired." She helped Sam out of the back of the jeep, and they took a seat up by the trailer. Out of the night sky, Al appeared. "It's taken you long enough," said Donna. "You can see him too?" asked Sam. Donna laughed, "Of course I can. I'm a leaper too, you know." "Ziggy can't figure out why you two haven't leaped yet. Boy, ex-wives sure are a lot of fun. I wish I hadn't accused her of sleeping with my boss. I didn't know he was a homosexual. If only I had taken her more seriously." "Look, Sam!" Donna pointed to a falling star in the clear sky (the hurricane was still a few hours away). "You know what happens when you wish on a falling star, Al?" said Sam. "I do," said Donna, and she and Sam kissed. And then they lept. **************** "Al, I've traced Dr. Beckett to be in this very room," said Ziggy. "What? Where?" "Right here, Al. I'm finally home!" Sam exclaimed, not even paying attention to the fact that he was not in the waiting room. "Uh oh, Sam." "What is it Al? Is something wrong?" "Uh...you might not want to look in the mirror this time." Sam turned toward the mirrored wall on the one side of the control room, wondering what Al could possibly. But when he saw his reflection... "Oh, God! I'm Gooshie!"
