1. How did QD Leap come about?
The creator of the series,
Aurora, is a big fan of the Quantum Leap television show. And like many of the fans, she
was never quite happy about the ending. So, being a writer, she began writing fanfiction
in which she hoped would answer many of the questions that were being asked… like,
what happened to Sam? Then she hit on an idea, why not do a crossover with one of the
original fiction stories she was writing? And so, QD Leap was born! After getting many
e-mails about the fanfiction form and her new interest in voice acting, she decided to
translate it into radio play form. Unfortunately, her first try to get it going ended
because of lack of voices. Then, over a year later, she was surfing the net and came
across a website called Al's Place. When she saw a link to the old radio play pages she
e-mailed Brian to inform him that it was no longer running. Brian, being the great and
wonderful person he is, convinced Aurora to give it another try. And so… here we are!
2. How often will episodes be posted?
Due to recasting and
scheduling conflicts, that's unknown at this time. But once everything gets worked out,
we're hoping to release one serial (two - four episodes) every two months.
3. How long will episodes be posted?
Season One will be taken
down as soon as the second serial of Season Two is aired. Each season will be offered on a
CD for sale with the profits of said sale going to charity.
4. How many episodes are in the series?
We really don't know! We
know where we're going but how long it's going to take to get there is anyone's guess!
5. So, is this commercial based or fan
based?
Definitely fan based! This
series was created out of deep respect of the creator of the Quantum Leap universe, Donald
Bellasarius. (see disclaimer!)
6. What is QD Leap about?
Ah, ah, ah!! That would be
telling! *waggles a finger at them* You'll just have to find out once we start releasing
them!
7. I read your fanfic, is it going to be
like that?
The basic premise for the
radio play did come from Quanta-Dimensional Leap fanfiction. But many elements and
settings have been changed to be more true to the original series, Quantum Leap.
8. Who's in QD Leap?
Well, the whole original gang is
in it plus a few new people that we hope you'll love them just as much as the originals.
9. So, what's the rating on this thing?
QD Leap will stay within
the boundaries of a PG13 rating.
10. Aw, why? Can't you just write in a
steamy sex scene between Sam and…?
No! No! No! No! Did you
ever watch the television series?
11. Will there be any crossovers with
any other series? (tv or fanfiction based)
No.
12. Can I help?
Yes! Most definitely! Once the series gets going a list of Extra Voices will be
posted on that page.
13. Wow! That's a lot of people, how do
you plan on pulling it together?
That's the tricky part. The
writers will write the episodes and then send them to the story editors, who'll edit them
and then the story editors will send it to the director who then sends it to the Voice
Actors. The Voice Actors will have to do their recording on their home computers and then
send it to the sound mixer who mixes it with all the others, sound effects, and other
stuff and then send it to the director who suggests changes and additions or cutting to
the sound mixer. Then the finished episode will posted on this web site.
14. What about music? What kind of music
will you be using?
First off, we're hoping
that no one will object if we use tracks from the original series soundtrack. Secondly,
we're also planning on using a few bits and pieces from other series that seem to fit.
Thirdly, we're also looking at using some original pieces from some composers.
15. Other series?? What other series?
Yes! <grin> Again, that would be
telling!
16. Will I be able to submit ideas or
scripts for the series?
After Part Three: Voices
From The Past has begun, we have decided to open the series up to many of the talented
writers out there. You'll be able to submit scripts, or ideas for scripts, directly to
Aurora. Also, we are open to 'behind the leaps' vignettes to be recorded by the wonderful
cast of QD Leap.
17. Vignettes? Wazzat?
The vignettes are short,
one act radio plays, that are written by some of the premiere Quantum Leap fanfiction
writers on the internet. They will offer some insight into the lesser shown characters,
new characters, and some of the backstory of the Technomancers.
18. What about this website? What kind
of features will it offer?
This website is under a
consant state of flux. The episode guide will be updated as new files are uploaded. The
character and cast pages will be constantly updated. There will also be a humor section
opening up that will include outtakes and bloopers. Anything else, we're leaving up to
YOU to suggest!
