"Disco Inferno"

Cut Scenes: In an early script, the offended female extra at the start makes it clear one of the reasons she slept with Chad was to get some lines in the film. Chad’s favorite song is Kung Fu Fighting. There is a brief extra scene with Ray reassuring Sam about the fall in Earthquake. While filming Earthquake, Al recognises Lorne Greene by his real name rather than by the name of the character Ben Cartwright from Bonanza. Chris punches his father in the back of the head, not in the face. Al jogs Sam’s memory of Tom by showing him a photo of him and Tom from 1968 (the photo appears later in the televised version in a new scene). Shannon, cast as a brunette, is referred to as a blonde. Two scenes are slightly re-ordered. When entering the ambulance, Chris’s harmonica falls out of his pocket, and Ray passes it back to him, subtly indicating his support of his son’s chosen path. The final scene takes place not in the Stone household in front of the TV, but at the Ford rally itself. Katie, Sam’s sister, was referenced in earlier drafts. Bellisario stepped in and created Tom for more dramatic appeal. |
