"Dr. Ruth"
|
Cut Scenes: The fifth draft script, dated November 30th 1992, establishes that Al had an Aunt Hilda with six children. Hilda sounds like Dr. Ruth. When Sam starts to sound like Dr. Ruth, an effect the series sometimes called psychosynergising, the script directions says “Dr. Ruth Swiss-cheeses in” (this is not the correct use of “Swiss-cheese” in Quantum Leap terminology), and Al uses the term himself moments later too. Debbie’s original history sees her in a plane crash on the way to her first assignment. Sam’s line “how do you think I got to be so famous” was originally a less classy “because somehow God or time or fate brought us together”. Sam recommends saline implants as an alternative to silicon. In an earlier draft Debbie was named Marcie. |
