"Leaping of the Shrew"

Cut Scenes: The third version of the script, dated 6th August 1992 and called Washed Away, has some shouting between Sam and Vanessa immediately post-credits as he tries to rescue her. She offers to swim after the trunk herself (Sam jokes "No you don't, I've seen you swim"). When Vanessa threatens Sam with capital punishment over the use of her dress he asks "What's the charge? Grand Theft Shoes?". Sam notes that Vanessa's beauty masque could be used as dinner (it has avocado and coconut oil in it) and tells Vanessa what death from dehydration is like. Al appears a little earlier in the scene to tell Sam that he's making things worse. When they arrive on land, Vanessa says "There's the cutest little bar just around that point. God I'd kill for a Mimosa! And the most gorgeous blue lagoon", presumably in reference to Shields' well-known film. After Sam and Vanessa argue about 'fair', Vanessa talks to her urn, asking "What am I doing?! I'm not going to let some greasy little toad destroy me. I'm a Foster and a Foster would take this situation and attack it head on, right, Grandmama? Of course, right!" |
