Cut Scenes: In the first version of the script, dated July 13th 1992 and called Leaping on a String, the transitions are rather different: There are no date/location captions, and for the first few these are handled as straight cuts. Midway through the draft, Bellisario changes this to an 'eerie green glow' (which merges into the normal leap effect for the final leap into Clint Hill). All dialogue is written in English, with some of it noted as '(in Russian)' although the parts that are not translated on-screen via subtitles are not especially worthy of com- ment here. Sam recalls experiencing the San Fernando earthquake when he explains to Al about feeling Lee's personality in him it's worded as if he's telling Al this for the first time (in the finished episode, he begins with "you know how..." as if Al already knows). Al mentions his lack of sex drive, inherited from Sam in The Leap Back, still gives him problems 'now and then'. Al clarifies that the geishas used to scrub at him and Chip with their seaweed brushes. Al says "Oh, boy' when Sam starts slipping into Lee. Sam has an ominous voiceover moment "I prayed Al was right. At least part of me did."' The music that introduces us to Japan is apparently 'a Japanese version of Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom Time'. Ziggy is referred to three times as 'she' (the pronoun is avoided in the final episode each time with slightly different wording). During the bar fight there is a lot more scripted dialogue from the various onlookers including Al. The scene in Louisiana is entirely absent, but the sequence of Sam watching TV after is a longer montage showing him carrying out target practice, specifically at the distance and angle Oswald used from the Book Depository. |
