Cut Scenes: The first draft script was dated October 25th 1992, called Bread and Roses, and set November 16th 1968. It features very little new/different material - mostly it seemed to run short and needed expanding later. It misses Diana's speech at the start. Suzi's heart-to-heart with Sam at the start of Act Two is also cut shorter, but at the cost of George later giving advice to his daughter "hey, you don't have to worry, pumpkin. You're a beautiful, sweet, loving girl. You're going to find the right guy to marry you and take care of you. I have no doubt about that." Sam's monologue while en route to Diana's den isn't present. While at the den, Al explains that the men want "to meet you on their grounds, mano y mano" (often this phrase is used incorrectly, as man-to-man, when it actually translates as hand-to-hand; in context it's possible here Al is using it correctly). The act then closes with Al spelling out that Suzi will take a bullet for Diana. Just before the dinner scene, in transmission Evy has a long line over an establishing shot of the house - this is peculiarly lengthy, and isn't in the script so may have been added in post-production. The scene with Suzi and Diana in the van is entirely absent. The start of Act Four is structured differently, with the scenes cutting back and forth less than in the finished episode. |
