"Return"

Evil Leaper II

Cut Scenes:

In the second version of the script, dated January 12th 1993 and with a leap date of October 9th 1957, Jack Svensen is called Jack Swett.

Al tells Sam he's in "2-18 Brewster Hall. You've got a great view of the Women's Dorm, and I hear there's a babe on the third floor who..." (this is removed from the third version, dated January 13th, which also has the later leap year).

In both versions, Al calls Arnold "Pee-wee Herman in a cape".

Al refers to Arnold and Sam's minds psychosynergising (as it was in Star Light, Star Bright), while in the broadcast version he says "mind merging".

Zoey says of Mike, "I'd love to let him split my uprights" in the second version, then "he can slam dunk me anytime" in the third version, and then the line is removed for transmission.

In the second version, a female dorm-mate, Nancy, delivers the news to Alia that the Midnight Marauder is at Road End - later she's replaced with a line from Zoey.

Also uniquely to the second version, when we meet Amold in the Waiting Room he's reading the December 1999 copy of Consumer Reports, with a headline on Home Robot Servants.

In the third and broadcast versions, after Mike challenges Sam with a race, Sam grabs Alia and finds out who she is, which is followed by a discussion between the two and then a scene with Sam and Al in which (in the third version only), Al suggests he's moved from Revenge of the Nerds to James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause before we then arrive at the for the final showdown (and in the quarry third script it's very clear that Mike and Frank know about the bad brakes in Arnold's car before the race starts, and Zoey hopes for a month's vacation in Vegas "pre-AIDS").

In the second version, Alia is able to escape Sam in the library.

Al shares that there's going to be a 90% chance one of the cars will go over the cliff.

We then arrive at the quarry where Alia taunts Mike some more, and after Sam shows up to race he then touches Alia, who takes control of the car to race Mike.

In all versions, the climax ends slightly differently: In the second script, Alia and Sam are both conscious and holding each other, trying to take control of the leap (Alia hoping Sam will leap with her and she can kill him in the next leap).

In the second draft Alia is conscious and hoping to leap with Sam, and as transmitted Alia is unconscious.

The scripts end with: "LEAP OUT INTO THE NEXT HALF OF THE TWO-PARTER!"
