"The Right Hand of God"

Cut Scenes:

The second revision script, dated December 12th 1988 and entitled “Oct. 24, 1974”, is significantly different to the version that appeared onscreen, however mainly in the form of exposition and idle chatter which would have been removed to tighten the episode up.

We do learn that Duke Ludden (then called R.L. Ludden) died in suspicious circumstances – his body was found in a car at an airport.

The newspaper Sam picks up places this episode in Stockton, not Sacramento.

The money dealing at the start is made a little clearer: Edwards pays Cody $300, and Dixie passes Roscoe $540 (in the episode, we only know that Roscoe is paid $300).

There is a brief additional scene in which Angela introduces Sam to his room and to Father Muldooney and another conversation between Sam and Angela after Al unsuccessfully offers to train him.

We later see Sam place the Ali bet with Roscoe, after which Edwards approaches him in front of Angela (instead of Angela learning about Edwards off-screen).

The biggest difference is that Dixie does not streak and as such Sam loses the match in the second round; Edwards bet that Cody would defy him on which round to throw, and Gomez bet that Cody would lose, so both men clean up regardless.

After he leaps, Sam finds himself in the body of a lifeguard named Mark.
