"Star-Crossed"

Cut Scenes:

In the 4th revision script, dated 27th January 1989 (entitled simply “June 15, 1972”), we learn that the character “pragmatic student” is so named because she corrects Jamie Lee in the first scene, pointing out that Wuthering Heights was written years before Bromwell’s death.

We also learn that Donna and Sam’s first date was on her 30th birthday at the Hacienda in Taos and they decided to get married just a month later.

The script clarifies that Donna’s recollection of Sam’s favourite burger is an act of fate. Originally it was Oscar’s arrival in this scene that scares Donna away, not her own apprehension.

Oscar’s infamous limerick continues a little longer: “There was a young man from Kent, whose wang was so…” (italics are extra).

An additional news report on Bryant’s TV would have shown the Howard Hughes ‘biographers’ Clifford and Judith Irving being sentenced (which actually occurred two months after the events of this episode) (Hughes was later namechecked in Mirror’s Edge).

Al originally had a much harsher line to Sam in “Don’t give me that sick puppy look. I drown sick puppies”.

Somewhere along the line it was decided that Bryant would be an alcoholic, evidenced by references in the production paperwork used in The Quantum Leap Book (and in the appendix, here), but this did not make it through to the scripts.
