About the book: by Matt Dale
Making a Quantum Leap was repackaged and republished in 1996 as 193-page small format paperback The Making of Quantum Leap by Hal Schuster. All Schuster appears
to have done is:
• Swapped out Nance’s introduction for one of his own
• Corrected some glaring typos (Gooshi for Gooshie and Stochwell for
Stockwell, for example)
• Replaced the guide with an updated one by Brown running up to Mirror
Image
• Added short essays by fans Sally Smith and Anita Kilgour
The biography of Stockwell even still ends in 1992, with the last entry as “CBS Quantum
Leap (3/26/89 – current).” Astute fans will note that Quantum Leap is not a CBS show, but rather broadcast on NBC. Something a guidebook should really get
right.
In 1992 and 1993 there was a sudden rush of official material, all produced in the same style. Ironically, and somewhat
sadly, this tied in with the final year of the show itself.
