Well well well, a new year has begun. Excellent. And what a better year it will be as we step out on a new quest… the quest for Quantum Leap to return to the small screen… or the big screen. Either or, it will be wonderfully accepted… and anticipated by Quantum Leapers everywhere around the globe.

QUANTUM LEAP: THE MOVIE ANSWERS REVEALED…

Several topics have been brought up on the Al’s Place Message Board concerning the new Quantum Leap. As I have read through these topics it made me wonder exactly how Don will do this. We all know that he doesn’t look at the Fan-Fiction, which is a shame. I’ve read quite a few in the last couple of weeks and find that they are as good as any of the books that have been written.

Questions upon questions are being asked.

Will Scott Bakula be Dr. Sam Beckett? Will Dean Stockwell be our adorable loving hologram that’s now married to Beth? Will Sam finally make it home? What happened to the Evil Leapers that we all love to hate? Will they be back? Will they be cast with the original actors and actresses? Who will play Gooshie or is he to be replaced by another character just as charming? Who will play Sammie Jo; that is if she has a definite part in the show - will it be her predecessor – Melora Hardin? And then there’s the question that has been asked just recently in the Message Board: If Don decides to do a background on the Evil Project that is doing their best to destroy the Time line, who will Lothos be played by? Will we get to see possibly an actor or will it just be a machine? The questions continue on and on.

And the only one with the answers… is the one that we can’t even talk too. We can only speculate and hypothesize until the cows come home. We can only hope that Don answers all the questions that we have… and hope that his creative ability that he’s shown in all the other shows that he has done in the past correlate together to become the wonderful show that I sincerely hope that The New Quantum Leap will be. ((Boy, I do have high hopes… don’t I? Who wouldn’t? We’ve all been kept under wraps for so long… teased for so long with no answers to our questions; that I hope that our standards aren’t too high.))

A LEAP OF A DIFFERENT COLOR…

No, it’s not what it appears. On November 24, 2002, The Rod gave out A Leap of Choice. Basically He said that the Bartender (not Brian, mind you), but The Bartender told Sam it was Sam leaping himself around, so, it could have been that Sam was subconsciously picking out the people, or more accurately the jobs he always wanted to do. He even gave the example that you never saw Sam leap into a garbage man… right? Well, The Rod compiled a list of careers that He Himself would love to leap into. This got me to thinking about what I would like to leap into… if given the opportunity. At the same time, these might be the same type of things that Don may have the new "leaper" (since it has been hinted that she is a woman) leap into….

So, here’s my list of careers that I would love to leap into:

1. Calvin Klein Scouter.
2. Calvin Klein President at the annual Christmas Party
3. Any woman in a James Bond Film that cozies up to Bond and lives.
4. Trainer at Sea World with Shamu
5. An actress – favorably Sandra Bullock or Nicole Kidman.
6. A World Famous Writer
7. The first woman Navy SEAL
8. A Police Woman on the Bomb Squad
9. Laura Croft
10. A Mermaid (Why not? They went out on a limb too in the series… vampires, big foot… why not a mermaid?)

Back a few topics ago at Al’s Place, I read a topic that spurred me into taking action. Well… this is the action: The Interview of a Century: An Interview with The Rod himself! Yes, ladies and gents, I was able to catch The Rod online and talked to him about his most secretive life.

Although I know that I couldn’t ask him the most obvious of questions; which is exactly who is the Rod… I got to question him on a few things and we will all learn more about The Rod as the week’s progress. He has accepted graciously that he would grant me this interview.

The following is the little bit that we were able to discuss while he was online. I did put it in question / answer format so that it would be easier to read. So… enjoy what you learn about The Rod…

Robyn: First, thank you for letting me conduct this interview. Are you sure that your ready to do this?

The Rod: Hmm. Actually sounds like a cool idea. He has had a few emails asking about Him so perhaps an interview would stop all the queries.

Robyn: Ok. Let me see here. I know that I can’t ask you the obvious question so lets start out with some easy ones here. Hmmm… okay, what is your favorite color and why?

The Rod: Red, it’s the color of His car.

Robyn: Oh, what kind of car do you have?

The Rod: Focus Turbo.

Robyn: I know that I’m not one of the most up to date on cars, so… uhm… who makes that?

The Rod: It’s okay. Ford makes it.

Robyn: Ahh… okay. Let me see. I wish that I had some of these things written down before I started this interview… next time I will be more prepared.

The Rod: Not a problem, Robyn.

Robyn: Ok. Here’s a decent one. What is your favorite animal and why?

The Rod: The Rod’s favorite animal… good question. Would have to say… the dog. A dog is more than a pet to the Rod. It’s a friend, a family member. The Rod was gutted when His dog died from a heart attack, because she was His best friend. You can always trust and talk to a dog.

Robyn: Oh, Rod, I’m sorry to hear that. Did you get another dog?

The Rod: Yeah, rescued a wonderful puppy from the freeway.

Robyn: What’s his or her name?

The Rod: She is almost the same personality as the one that died. Her name is Kaz, The RodPuppy.

Robyn: *giggles* Matt will love that one, huh?

The Rod: Heh, yup, was just about to say that.

Robyn: Any special reason for the name?

The Rod: No… no special reason.

Robyn: Okay, I know that you have to go pretty soon, so I’ll ask you one more question. This is dealing with Quantum Leap. If you had the opportunity to work with Don Bellasario on the new QL movie/series, what advice would you give him and why?

The Rod: Ooooo. Great question.

Robyn: Thank you. *grin*

The Rod: Advice: Probably to keep the continuity going. The fans will watch QL, but if there is no continuity between Mirror Image and the new series, its not really worthwhile. There is 1 question that the fans want, that is: What Happened to Sam Beckett. This needs to be resolved.

Robyn: You’re right it does need to be resolved and hopefully soon. Thank you Rod for this brief little interview and I hope that we will continue this next week. Again, thank you.

Robyn: Anything for a sweet guy.

The Rod: Awww shucks. Perhaps He should interview you some time.
