Rodette-Vision

The greatest results in life are usually attained by simple means and the exercise of ordinary qualities. These may for the most part be summed up in these two - common sense and perseverance.

Common Sense & Perseverance

In the years when Quantum Leap was in it’s hay-day, we waited eagerly for the next episode; watching the teaser for the next week and hearing Sam’s only two words that either tickled or induced us into a state of shock – "Oh boy!"

As the seasons progressed, we watched as Ziggy predicted, miscalculated and gave some wild and outrageous reasons for his leap into an individual’s life. Each time that Sam heard the reason for his leap, he always went with his gut instinct – his common sense.

This is the main reason that I think that Quantum Leap had such a strong gathering behind it. Here was a man, stuck in time, trying to get back home, putting things right that once were wrong – using his common sense and his good morals that his parents had taught him – to help him in his precarious situation. Sam Beckett was one of those men that are few and far between – a true-blue boy scout!

Even as he continues to leap in Time, he persevered. Although he longed to go back home and be with his family and friends, he did what he could do to help those around him. Yes, he was only there for a couple hours or maybe a couple of days. However, he was there, persevering through the ordeals placed on him.

It makes me wonder exactly what I would do in his situation. Would I be able to make the clear correct choice? Would I be able to persevere all the obstacles in the way?

I would like to answer that yes, I could make the right decisions – especially if I had someone like Admiral Albert Calavicci helping me out with the equation. However, the more that I think about it, I have a hard time with my own life and my family – how could I ever be up to that type of challenge? Being a hero of all? Could you?

It’s something to ponder on…

Life In General

If you learn from your suffering, and really come to understand the lesson you were taught, you might be able to help someone else who's now in the phase you may have just completed. Maybe that's what it's all about after all...

~ Anon ~

Since last Saturday when I heard about the Space Shuttle Columbia exploding, I’ve thought a lot about life in general. We take so much for granted.

For seventeen years, we went about our daily lives as astronauts went up into space at regular intervals not really paying attention to the awesome thing that they were doing. We were too busy into our own daily routines and procedures to stop and think about what was going on around us. I know that I’m making a blanket statement here, but it’s to prove a point.

It takes something horrible like this to wake us up. Two years ago, it was the senseless death of thousands of Americans in the Trade Center. This year, it’s the tragedy of Columbia and it’s seven lives. When are we going to learn that it only takes a moment touch someone’s life? When are we just going to stop and help others?

Helping others … huh, as simple as it is, that’s got to be what this world is all about.

That’s the main theme of Quantum Leap – wasn’t it?

Change

The more things change, the more they remain the same.

Quantum Leap: The Virtual Seasons

As you ladies and gents may or may not know, Quantum Leap: The Virtual Seasons has moved to Al’s Place. Everything is still the same – we are still airing a new story every week until May! Once May gets here, we will be to rerunning the episodes. We are still going strong just now it’s without advertisements being in the pesky way!

I also wanted to let you guys know that the Virtual Seasons has been updated. All of the pages – yes, all million of them (or so it felt like when I went through them) – has been updated. If you find any link that doesn’t work, or you have a problem with any part of the site, then please let me know.

A special thank you goes to Brian Greene for his help in moving the site and getting everything set up so quickly. Without his help, it would have been a major pain in the proverbial rear to get everything sorted and sent to the server. Thank you again, Mr. Bartender. *grin*

Al’s Place Message Board

Another change that you may notice is the message board at Al’s Place! Brian I know spent all day, February 4, 2003 messing with the EZBoard HTML, fighting with it – arguing with the computer that it could be done – and finally made it what it appears like today – and knowing our Bartender – he’s still got a few surprises up his sleeve and will continue to mess with the site and get it exactly how he wants it to be. Who said that perfection came easy?

Reaching For The Chocolate

Yes, I know, an odd title, but consider the source…

I’m starting to think that Quantum Leap is a lot like chocolate. Ok… ok… some people may be sitting there thinking… chocolate? What in the heck is this gal talking about?

Just think about it for a minute.

Chocolate.

It’s sweet. It’s tasty. It’s tangible. It melts in your mouth. It calms you. It ‘satisfies’ the craving. Once you have some – your adrenaline goes up; your pressure stabilizes, and you can get through your day. It peps you up. It’s addictive. When you go without it, then taste it again, you’re hooked again. You can’t wait until you have your next bite. It’s the best thing for you when you need to have it – whether it is hard, soft or syrup on top. And, of course, it’s always yummy!!!

So, do you see it? Did I paint the picture correctly?

Mmmm mmmm mmmm – I need some more chocolate!!!

Still reaching for the unreachable star,

MJ
