Just recently my husband and I got to talk about things dealing with Quantum Leap and Star Trek and he has a point that Id like to expand on. Whether or not you feel the same way or not, it seems to be the case. When you sit down and actually think about it it does make an awful lot of sense sad but true. As my husband told me and as Im starting to see the light showing dimly above me (not wanting for it to become quite bright yet) Quantum Leap was a job, not a life altering effect that Scott Bakula is just dying to go back to. It was a job. A place to work, create and become friends with those around him. Thats all. Here we are, a group of fanatics a big group of fans who want the show to come back a group of fans who want Scott Bakula to come back and become the wonderful boy scout once more to "put right what once went wrong hoping that his next leap will be the leap home." Will it happen? We would love for it to happen. But will it? Who is actually going to be in the show, if one does come along? Will it be Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell? We do not know for sure.
In the chat that took place at the website: StarTrek.com there were few questions about Quantum Leap and the majority of it was about Enterprise. Am I surprised? Yes and no. A friend of mine was actually in the chat and I relayed a question to ask if at all possible. It was about Quantum Leap and it was about my own website, QL: The Virtual Seasons. When I went to the chat today 9/15/03; the question about surfing the web in the chance to see QL: TVS was not there. My friend was also a bit peeved that his question had been erased. However, I did pull a few questions from the chat for all to read:
It is a fact that Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell are friends. Thats a wonderful thing. I, myself, still have friends at jobs that I have moved on from, but do I think that Ill ever go back to those jobs again? Retrospectively, I can say, no.
Yes, he likes the concept of Time Travel. I dont blame him. Its something that hes been immersed in for at least five years with Quantum Leap. Will this part of him ever go away all together? I doubt it. Quantum Leap is a part of Scott Bakula as Scott Bakula was a part of Quantum Leap. But as my husband told me in the past couple of days (and dagnabit that darn light is getting brighter and brighter ) Scott Bakula moved on to bigger and better things. He is now the Star Ship Captain of the Enterprise, boldly going where no one has ever gone before with a sexy Vulcan at his side. What does this mean? People are questioning if Scott Bakula even likes Quantum Leap anymore. When you notice all of the Quantum Leap references taken away from the Chat on StarTrek.com, one must think that either someone is doing an excellent editing job (and yes, they do edit it or my question would be there and his response that he doesnt do much web surfing) or that he doesnt want to talk about it anymore. Sincerely, I dont think that Scott just doesnt want to talk about it anymore. I think that what happened is that hes more about his new job (as is anyone when they get a new job they arent thinking about the old one). So the question still stands If Quantum Leap does make a comeback -- or as Rod said in his last Rodvision, if Bellasario goes backward and does a prequel who is going to do it and how will the original actors be associated with it? Again, Im going to say the same thing that Ive said in another Rodette Vision. I dont know what the future holds. I cant wait to see what it holds for Quantum Leap. We all hope that Quantum Leap prevails and that it will hold the same attraction that it has in the past. We all want Sam and Al to be there and if that cant be so its going to be an interesting and bumpy ride. Does this mean that Im giving up on Quantum Leap because it seems that Scott Bakula has moved on? Not hardly. Im a fan of a show that has morals, integrity and a love for humanity. Who wouldnt be a fan? Until next time keep the Leap!
