The last time that I was able to talk to someone of high authority about Scott Bakula which was on September 23, 2003, Marc Wade, Supervising Producer, StarTrek.com asked an age old question that I think has been going around since Shakespeare (possibly) and that was: We need to promote Scott Bakula to the people who havent seen him as Captain Archer and we need any help in this area that you can give. Well we are going at it a different way here at Als Place. We admire the way that Scott Bakula showed off his acting ability, his talent in singing and playing the guitar and piano. We enjoyed him on this show were he was the greatest Boy Scout alive. We look at this man and his cohorts who do so many things to make us upset, angry, laugh and cry and still keep us interested in the show to watch it every single week. How did they do it for Quantum Leap? In this writers humble opinion they had the ultimate goal that every week slipped through Sam Becketts hands to quote the saga cell: "Dr. Beckett finds himself leaping from life to life, putting things right that once went wrong and hoping each time that his next leap will be the leap home." I dont think that that need for seeing people right wrongs has changed. You have shows of any number of caliber now. CSI, JAG, Navy NCIS, The Guardian, Judging Amy, Law & Order, NYPD Blue and you can even go as far as Stargate SG1. Yes, most of the shows now that are out there are more criminal justice courts but the Stargate SG1 shows you how another group of people is trying to help someone else as well. So how would you promote him? Not keeping his Leap alive but promoting whatever your favorite actor is doing at the time? Reaching that unreachable star MJ If youd like to e-mail MJ about any Quantum Leap information regarding QL: The Virtual Seasons or any Rodette-Vision Column, please do so at mjcogburn@austin.rr.comIn my soul, this hope burns free oh, please let there be one final leap! |
