The Rod of course means The Bartender in Quantum Leap, and not the Omnipotent Bartender Dude of Al’s Place, Home of The Rod (It WILL catch on sooner or later dude!!!) here on The Rodternet.

Speaking with Hot Rodder Dan Goff whilst posting his stories a few weeks ago got The Rod thinking about the whole Bartender angle within Quantum Leap. All throughout Quantum leap, the question was asked: Who or what is leaping Sam around?

In Mirror Image, the answer was given. Al The Bartender was leaping Sam around (although he told Sam that Sam was doing it).

All impressions made regarding the Bartender were that he was God, or some other mystical being. But what if he is from Project Quantum Leap in the future?

Al’s Place could have been an advanced Holographic projection? (Ala The Star Trek Holodeck)

Perhaps what really happened when Sam leaped the 1^st time was that he simply was never found. Many years later, The Bartender takes over PQL, manages to locate Sam Beckett, and starts his leaping adventures.

Due to all the temporal mumbo jumbo, to the people of Sam’s PQL, it would be as though Sam had never gone missing.

This could be the main story of the new QL, perhaps it will be the case that The Bartender now cannot locate Sam Beckett, so he enlists the help of a Retired Admiral to help him with a NEW leaper, leaping to bring Sam Home.

He could then explain to Al who he was, and how he has been leaping Sam around.

On the other hand, he could simply be a wise bartender, after all, aren’t ALL bartenders wise?

If you have been living undewr a rock for the past week or so, you will not know about the recent changes to the Al’s Place Message Board.
