Is Sam Dead?

Welcome Back to Rodvision.  That is, if there is anybody there, and this column is not just taking up space here at Al’s Place.

The Rod wishes to discuss a theory which was raised,  regarding the whole Quantum Leap saga.

There are several theories, the theory which your Hero The Rod subscribes to, is that Quantum Leap, is all about Sam, saving al’s marriage to Beth.  The preceding leaps designed to show Sam how to do this, how to………………………………….… Break The Rules. 

Another theory, which DOES tie into this, could be the possibility that Sam is, in actual fact, dead?

That he died on the initial leap, and was used by GTF (God, Time or Fate to the newbies) as a sort of guardian angel for Al.  Righting the wrongs, of souls who went astray, whilst learning he had to ultimately save Al?

Problem is, Sam realised too late.

Mirror Image has bits of evidence, which point to this.  Most obvious being that Stawpah, may or may not have been Al’s deceased uncle, leaping around, helping souls.

The bartender explained this to Sam, that Sam was controlling his leaps, and that every leaper gets a rest, to leap WHEREVER they wish for short time.  Sam chose to return to Beth, and put right what STILL was wrong. 

Didn’t The Bartender (or GTF) mention that Al’s Place was just where these leapers stopped for a rest every now and then?

This could explain why Sam’s body vanished from the waiting room, he had realised the truth, that he was in fact a ghost of sorts. 
After doing what he should have done in MIA, he leapt on, to harder leaps, without Al, Al couldn’t follow him where he was going.

This theory does not belong to The Rod.  But, it was suggested to Him, so after thinking about it, it has been posted here.

Sit in front of your TV.  Now watch Mirror Image, with this theory in mind.

Not asking you to believe it, just to ‘borrow’ it whilst watching MI.

Still think this theory is crazy?  The Rod isn’t saying this IS the premise of QL, but it could be a part of the movie, AND introduce a new leaper.
