It seems these days that prequels are the "in" thing, indeed Al’s Place’s very own Bartender has created his very own prequel story entitled "The Starbright Project" (Check it out, it kicks ASS…. plus, he IS the boss man!!) It doesn’t end there however. For years leapers have been creating their own little niche in Quantum Leap lore. The Al’s Place Members TinaAlsGirl5, QLDamsel and many others are part of this growing culture of fans that wish to put RIGHT that which the TV Nozokies so easily made wrong. With so many great writers out there, the future should be looking great for Quantum Leap. The Rod has His doubts though. As with Star Trek, perhaps Quantum Leap should do a prequel, should base it upon the Starbright Project at which both Al and Sam were part of. (Once again, read The Bartender Dude’s fiction…pretty damned good!!) OK, you have the age factor, both Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell aren’t getting any younger, which would make a prequel hard to do, but not impossible. For example, "Dumb and Dumberer", a prequel to "Dumb and Dumber", did not feature Jim Carrey or Jeff Daniels, yet the 2 actors chosen did carry a resemblance. If you really think about it, they wouldn’t even need look-alikes. All they need to do is to use this story and name the characters Sam Beckett and Al Calavicci. They could use it as an entirely different series. "Enterprise" is in its 3rd season, and there is talk of it finally using the "Star Trek" moniker. Didn’t need it at first! So perhaps rather than looking to solve the Sam Beckett lost in time angle, they should go back in time to show how Sam and Al got together in the first place. The Starbright Project casts so many imaginative ideas up, it coul dbe a great story to tell, The Rod thinks it could even rival Quantum Leap if done right. It would then be public knowledge that Al’s Place (And The Rod in some small way) has contributed to Quantum Leap history as The Awe Inspiring and Mysteriously Mystical Bartender Dude had come up with the idea in the 1st place.
