Back Cover: Retrouvez Sam Beckett et Al, son ange guardian holographique… Les héros de la célèbre série TV! Alia! |

Synopsis | ||||||||||||||||||||||
July 11, 1987 New York, 90 minutes from Manhattan June 7th, 1967 Middle East Dr. Sam Beckett leaps into the body of a man taking part in the recreation of a medieval tournament and discovers that he must face a sinister new foe, another time traveler who is out to destroy the Project and Sam. Summary & review by Dermot Devlin of the former quantumleaping.com: When Sam leaps into the middle of a joust dressed up in medieval gear, he immediately thinks that he has leapt outside his own lifetime and into the 15thC. This has never happened before. How could this happen? These were some of the things running through Sam's mind. When Al appears, he informs Sam that the year is 1984. Al found it funny that Sam was worried about him leaping outside of this own lifetime, never mind into the 15thC. He also claimed that Ziggy would get a good buzz from that too. Al informs Sam that he has leaped into the body of Phil Larkin, the man who invented the Capacitor, an important compontant of Project Quantum Leap. Unfortunately Phil died two years after this leap. Sam theorised that maybe the reason he cannot get home is that were was a fault with the Capacitor and if he can keep Phil alive, perhaps he would be able solve that problem. Al had to break to break the news to Sam that that wasn't why he was there. With Sam learning that this wasn't why he leaped into Phil, he started to spiral downhill into depression. He leapt that GTFW was "dangling a carrot in front of a donkey" by always taking him to places, which could take him home, but not allowing him to. Sam was beginning to feel disillusioned with Quantum Leap and this angered Al. Close by Zoey was listening to Sam's conversation with Al. As well as remember, Zoey is the holographic project for Alia the evil leaper. Together, with this information, Alia and Zoey hatched a plan with would make Sam feel more vulnerable and disillusioned. Then when Alia got Sam where she wanted him, she would either convert him to the evil Project Quantum Leap or kill him. This was truly was great Quantum Leap novel. I had this book finished in double fast time, as I could not put the book down. I lost a lot of sleep over this! It was great to see Zoey and Alia back again, because like in the series, it always made a great story. This story took place between Deliver Us From Evil, where Sam first met Zoey and Alia, and Return when the two returned again in the televised series. Melaine seems to be, from reading this book, to be a big fan of Quantum Leap also. With some Quantum Leap novel writers, they do not know the real story of Quantum Leap and totally miss the spirit of the show. With Melanie, she got Sam and Al down to a t. I really believed that this was Sam from the series and not someone else's image of him. A top class, enjoyable book which all Quantum Leap fans young and old will enjoy. It really catches the magic that was in the television program and translates it to the book 100%. |
