Biography: When Ian first joined the Quantum Leap Project they were in a relationship with a woman named Rachel. Their partnership ended in 2017 because of Ian needing to focus completely on their work. The two of them restarted their relationship between 2023 and 2026. Ian is an important member of the Quantum Leap project, in charge of monitoring Ben Song's leaps and working with Ziggy to understand the purpose and history of each leap. They are a bright and friendly individual, shown to be a close friend to all members of the team, especially Addison Augustine as they guide and support her in her unexpected job as Ben's Observer. Ian is also nonbinary, which they light-heartedly reference frequently. It is implied they have known about this since they were eight years old, and in Let Them Play they confess that the weight of being nonbinary in a binary, cisgender world drove them to attempt suicide. Fortunately they had support in the form of their Coding Club at the time and were able to pull through. Perhaps thanks to their past, Ian is shown to be a deeply caring individual, emotionally supporting their coworkers and frequently fretting about their well-being and the consequences of the Quantum Leap programmer's actions. Perhaps this is why they have been revealed to be the individual who initially told Ben to make the unauthorized jump, in the form of trans poet Dottie. Through this, we know that at some point in the future, Ian will also use the Project Accelerator to leap back in time and warn Ben of the danger to Addison, sparking the events of the series. |
