Accelerator Chamber

The Quantum Leap Accelerator:

The
Quantum Leap Accelerator controls the leap process each time a leaper moves in time. The power used during this process can be tracked and measured by the project. Ziggy has a large part in this process, according to Ian. It is used to leap a person back in time to set right something that went wrong.

The Accelerator can be programmed with set targets in time.

An implosion of the Quantum Accelerator would take out everything within a 3-mile radius.

Imaging Chamber

Upgrades from the original 1990's Project Quantum Leap:

The staff at Project Quantum Leap see and hear Ben Song as himself in the Imaging Chamber, not as the Leapee due to the Quantum Entanglement process. Physical contact with an observer is no longer needed to see the leaper inside the Chamber.
Ben can also be seen through Imaging Chamber technology without an observer inside. Addison (and others at the project) can hear what Ben hears, regardless of whether it can be heard by others in the environment Ben is in.

The QL Project team is able to capture images from the Imaging Chamber feed.

Addison seems to be able to linger for a few moments after Ben leaps. This also happened at the end of Atlantis. In the original series, Al would "go back into the Imaging Chamber" after the leaper departed.

It appears anyone can be linked to the Imaging Chamber to see Ben and the past around him. Addison is able to watch Ben have a conversation on the monitor at the project without being in the Imaging Chamber. How this is possible was not explained.

Imaging Chamber Facts:

Ian, Magic, Jenn, Addison, and even Gideon Ridge have all been inside the Chamber. Janis Calavicci built her own Imaging Chamber and was also able to see Ben in the past.

Ian has to authorize entry into the Imaging Chamber. Ian says that it's against the rules for themself to enter the IC.

Putting two people in the Imaging Chamber (Addison and Jenn) causes a weak signal early on, but Ian later created a patch to stabilize the holograpic images when two people are inside.

The Handlink and Imaging Chamber work even if Ziggy is offline. They run on separate systems now.

Jenn was dizzy for a whole day after utilizing the Imaging Chamber, suggesting the process takes time to adjust.

Control Room

Control and Programming Processes:

The Quantum Leap rule of only leaping within your own lifetime can be changed by removing security protocols with new code, which Ben uploaded at the beginning of the first episode.

There is no Waiting Room for the leapee at the new project. The leaper and leapee exist in the same time and space as one entity with the new programming through a process called Quantum Entanglement.

Addison can remember the original timeline after it gets changed by Ben because she was directly connected to Ben in the Imaging Chamber as the change happened.

Another Project upgrade involves Ben and another leaper to see each other as themselves without touching first. In the original series, two Leapers must make physical contact to achieve this as Sam and Alia did in "Deliver Us From Evil" and Sam and Zoey in "Revenge."

Ziggy

Biography:

Ziggy is the super hybrid computer that runs Project Quantum Leap. It was built by Dr. Samuel Beckett and Gooshie, being one of the first creations in the Project Quantum Leap. Ziggy had a sense of humor, which many computers don't have. Sam himself said: "The only thing separating Ziggy from a normal calculating machine is his ego." In fact, he later expanded on this in the episode The Leap Back. In this episode, after Ziggy was being particularly stubborn, Sam lamented about it by saying "Why did I have to give him Barbra Streisand's ego?"

30 years after Sam Beckett disappeared in time, Ziggy was reconstructed and redesigned by Ian Wright. Ziggy has lots of information of the past and gives information to the project team
. The Observer uses the Handlink to keep contact with Ziggy while they are in the Imaging Chamber.

Ziggy glitches frequently. Ziggy's gender is not specified and no voice is heard. The parellel hybrid computer has been upgraded with the latest tech since last we saw in 1999. The supercomputer has been moved to an undisclosed location in Los Angeles, Califiornia.

Ziggy doesn't believe that Ben can leap into the same body more than once and is now able to predict a possible new future for someone.

Ian states that Ziggy controls the Leaps. However, Ben has set the order of the leaps, but not into who or why. Magic believes there may be a higher power, as Sam and Al did in the original series.

Ziggy is now thousands of interconnected servers using cloud-based A.I.

The Quantum Chip:

The Quantum Chip was designed by Gideon Ridge, a tech billionaire. It allows Ziggy to locate the leaper in time.

Project Quantum Leap 2051

In 2051, the US government destroyed Project Quantum Leap in the original timeline. They sent back another leaper, Richard Martinez, to destroy the project in 2018. To do this, Martinez had to bounce along a set string of leaps, setting something right that once went wrong just as Ben Song and Sam Beckett had to do.
