Biography: Janis Calavicci is one of the four daughters of Al and Beth Calavicci, possibly their youngest. She was not part of the revived Quantum Leap project because her emotional ties to the original project were considered a liability. As a Ph.D. student a couple of years before Ben Song leaped, Janis published a paper on time loops. In 2022, she met with Ben Song and the two of them conspired to have Ben leap prematurely to save Addison Augustine from Richard Martinez who planned to kill her to prevent an apocalyptic future. At some point between 2023 and the three years between season one and two (2026), Janis was released and began working for the NSA in Hawai'i. Janis’s own name was given to her by the fandom after the series finale of the original Quantum Leap on her father’s Wikipedia page. Her three sisters were given the names Alexis, Ella and Samantha also on that same page however only Janis was confirmed as the 2022 Quantum Leap honored this unique Ascended Fanon. Beth Calavicci |
Biography: Beth Calavicci (played by Susan Diol) is Al Calavicci's wife/widow, and the only woman Al has ever really loved. Beth was a US Navy nursing officer while Al was a pilot. They married in 1961, but due to their differing duty assignments they only cohabited for a total of 2 years before the end of the decade. On Al's second tour of duty in Vietnam, he was shot down and taken captive; Beth had no way of knowing if he was still alive. While serving at the Naval Hospital in San Diego in April 1969, a very lonely Beth met Dirk Simon and fell in love. In the original history, Dirk, a lawyer, convinced Beth to declare her (presumed) lost husband legally dead and file for a divorce from him. A few months later, the two marry. Beth's abandonment of her relationship with Al sent Al's life into a downward emotional spiral. Though he would marry several more times, he never forgot Beth, and considered her the one who got away. Before leaping into the unknown in the series finale, Dr. Sam Beckett re-leaped back to 1969 as himself to inform Beth that Al was not dead, but was indeed coming home. As a result, Beth never remarried. Instead, she and Al stayed together, had four daughters, and celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary in June 2000. Beth became a widow when Al died in 2021 and subsequently lost touch with her daughter Janis. She was on good terms with Herbert "Magic" Williams, the head of the revived Quantum Leap project. They began seeing each other romantically while working on Quantum Leap around 2025. For more on Beth from the original Quantum Leap series, visit her page here. Appearances: M.I.A. Richard Martinez / Leaper X |
Biography: Richard Martinez was a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, and in 2022 he was stationed at Camp Pendelton. He has a strong sense of duty to his mission and to the United States. In 2051, the US Government sends Martinez on a one-way mission into the past to kill Addison Augustine before she becomes the leaper on Project Quantum Leap. PQL is blamed, at that time, for a nuclear war that has destroyed the United States. Ben Song leaps from 2022 to stop him. After multiple encounters on leaps, Ben successfully battles Martinez, who is killed by a bystander in 1879. As the permanent result of Martinez's leaps, Ben is the leaper instead of Addison, setting in motion the events of the series. Trivia: He was first called Leaper X. Richard spoke Spanish, in addition to English. He was shot and killed by Frankie in 1879. |

Hannah Carson |
Introduction: Hannah Carson was a physics professor who spent most of her career at Princeton University. She encountered Ben Song on six of his leaps, directly assisting his mission on five of them, while continuing an unconventional romance with him. She also created the formula that allowed Ben to eventually reunite with his ex-fiancee Addison Augustine. Hannah is the mother of Jeffrey Nally, also known as tech billionaire Gideon Ridge in an alternate timeline. |
Biography: Based upon her first meeting with Ben Song, as well as her second in 1955, as well as her having a 7-year-old son in 1970, it could be assumed she was born between 1925-1930, possibly closer to 1928. During World War II, she was a programmer on the first electromechanical computer, but lost the job when the war ended. In 1949, Hannah was a waitress living in Starlight, New Mexico, when she meets in Ben Song in the body of Agent Robert Cook, who encourages her to join a new Physics program open to women at Princeton University. [1] In 1955, Hannah was attending Princeton University as a student of Professor Donovan, who was taking credit for her work. She meets Ben Song in the body of Prof. Henry McCoy, who asks for her help in finding a secret code from the recently deceased Albert Einstein. Hannah feels a connection to him and Ben confesses his identity during the leap. Donovan is disgraced at the end of the leap, allowing Hannah to get proper recognition for her work. Ben and Hannah kiss just before he leaps.[2] In 1961, was in Cairo for a conference and encountered Ben again, this time as a CIA agent. She helps him with the leap. Hannah is "introduced" to Addison Augustine as Ben's hologram. For a time, Ben believes he has failed and is stuck in 1961, and they have a romantic afternoon while contemplating spending the rest of their lives together. But ultimately, Ben is able to leap again.[3] In 1970, Hannah is living in Trenton, New Jersey. She was the first female chair of the Princeton Physics Department, married to Rutgers Professor of Medicine Josh Nally, and has a 7-year-old son, Jeffrey who she says is smarter than she is. She encounters Ben again in the body of her estranged brother-in-law, and helps with the leap. Ben is reluctant to have another romantic encounter given that she is married.[4] Later in 1971, Hannah receives a letter from Ben Song mailed in 1953, [5] telling her to have Josh get a blood clot checked. This allows Josh to live for 600 more days than the original timeline, when he dies in a car wreck immediately after finding the letter and having a big fight with Hannah.[6] After Josh's death, Hannah and Jeffrey have a difficult time financially. They move to an apartment tower in Baltimore and she starts working for DARPA on some theoretical physics projects. She encounters Ben again in 1974, when her apartment building is engulfed by flames. Ben, in the body of a firefighter, is able to rescue both her and Jeffrey. While she is pinned under some debris and expecting to die, she gives Addison the completion of the equation she had been working on for DARPA, which is the solution to bring Ben home that Ian Wright had been attempting to complete.[7] She tells Ben that her calculations show that they will not meet again. In 1976, Hannah has taken a new job in Sonoma, California. Jeffrey is the one that helps Ben with the leap, but Hannah and Ben meet one last time before his leap and are able to say goodbye.[8] |
